CLANA was born on 2002 from an initiative between the Brazilian College of Animal Nutrition (CBNA) and the Mexican Animal Nutrition Specialists Association (AMENA) with the objective of being a discussion forum on the Latin American situation regarding animal nutrition and production.

Since 2003 this event has taken place every two years alternating the location between Mexico and Brazil, so far.

AMENA, which is in charge of this year's event, is committed to making this an open discussion forum with the active participation of more than 15 countries throughout the region.

The I Latin American Animal Nutrition Industrial and Technological Expo will be held in conjunction with the V CLANA Congress. This event is designed for companies to present their industrial and technological innovations to participants from all over Latin America. The Expo will count on approximately 90 booths in an area of 1,800 m2 (6,000 feet2).

The programme includes 20 symposiums, which will include approximately 60 keynote speakers and the presentation of 160 research papers on science and technology.

This Congress will take place on 23-26 October 2012 in the Convention Center of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The main hotels for the event will be the Marriott Casa Magna and Westin.
