According to Punch, the International Egg Commission established in Bologna, Italy in 1964 is the global network for the major players and operators in the egg industry with members drawn from over 55 countries around the world.

It is the only organization dedicated to representing the egg industry internationally, and serves to link members, share information and develop relationships across the world.

A statement by the IEC Ambassador for Nigeria and West Africa, Dr Olatunde Agbato, quoted him as saying, "The conference is expected to give an opportunity for members to come together, share best practices and pledge their combined commitment to the industry’s corporate and social responsibility; working together to help feed the world’s growing population."

Agbato, who is also the Chief Executive Officer, Animal Care Services Konsult, added, "The IEC annual conference is billed to host world class and inspiring speakers to share their expertise and offer invaluable advice, at such an important time in the egg industry’s development."
