January Turkey Meat Exports Higher Than a Year Ago

US - US turkey meat exports in January 2012 were 15 per cent higher than a year ago, and have gone up by 40 per cent since 2009.

According to the latest International Egg and Poultry Review: Turkeys, North America accounted for the number one export destination, where 65 per cent of turkey meat was exported and figures rose by 19 per cent since 2011.

The number one exported item to South America was fresh/chilled turkey cuts, which was 31 per cent higher in January 2012 than the same month of last year.

Canada continues to be the number one exporter of turkey chicks to the US controlling over 99 per cent of US imports in 2011. January 2012 turkey chick imports all came from Canada and increased 130 per cent over January 2011.
