Poultry Farming to be Revived with Govt Support

INDIA - Agriculture Minister K P Mohanan has said that an extensive project in poultry farming with financial support from the government is being drawn up.

According to The New Indian Express, Mr Mohanan said this at the official launch of the thirteenth phase of Goraksha Project being implemented with the financial support of the Union Government.

The new project envisages distributing 45 chicks to each farmer with Rs 10 per chick as the beneficiary contribution. The Minister said that apart from this, various projects would be conceived and implemented to encourage animal husbandry and poultry farming in the state.

At the function presided over by K Muraleedharan MLA, the Minister also said that the subsidy being given for artificial insemination of animals would be continued. Goraksha Project coordinator J Chandramohan, district panchayat vice-president Rufus Daniel, Animal Husbandry Department director-in-charge K G Suma, Goraksha Project joint director G Sukumara Pillai and Kerala Feeds managing director R Vijayakumar were among those who spoke on the occasion.
