Mountaire Farms Acquires Delaware Granary

US - Mountaire Farms has acquired of Gavilon Grain in Townsend, Delaware.

According to Paul Downes, President and CEO, “Mountaire is a producer of high quality chicken products with market distribution channels in retail, wholesale, food service, and export. We are also a major purchaser of commodity grains including corn, soybeans, wheat, and barley. Mountaire has a deep rooted commitment to quality service and value, and we look forward to future business growth and strengthening the ties we have with the communities where we operate.”

Delmarvanow.com reports that Gavilon Grain has been in operation in Townsend for more than 50 years.

This elevator is ideally located in the heart of the Eastern Shore’s major grain producing region and will continue to handle all four key grain commodities – corn, wheat, soybeans, and barley.

According to Mark Mulholland, Vice President of Agri-Business, “We will continue to provide local farmers with exceptional customer service and extremely competitive grain prices that have helped establish Gavilon Grain as a leader in the local grain markets. The addition of the Gavilon Grain facility will position us to better serve the local farming community and help us grow our business.”
