Thirtyone farms showed the presence of the virus, 34 more were negative and the rest are undergoing laboratory diagnosis.

SENASICA said it has expanded the scope of review to farms bordering the initial outbreak and perifoco, in order to confirm that its birds are a low health risk.

The farms remain under quarantine and isolation, with limits on transportation.

For farms that are negative to the virus, SENASICA has issued a certificate for the safe movement of their products to market supply.

Samples collected are analysed at the Regional Diagnostic Laboratory for Emerging Diseases, located in El Salto, Jalisco, and the Mobile Laboratory SENASICA Animal Health, which is located in the region.

The medical device applied on farms found that out of 16.5 million birds, 3.4 million have been affected.

ASround 2.5 million birds have been culled so far.

A vaccine is currently being developed by scientists working in both the SENASICA and the National Veterinary Biologics Production (PRONABIVE).
