The world’s top event for animal production specialists, EuroTier 2012, will be held at the Exhibition Grounds in Hanover from 13 to 16 November 2012. EuroTier is the most international and comprehensive information forum for animal production professionals. All the leading suppliers of machinery and equipment for animal production, farm inputs and animal breeding will be presenting a full programme covering all aspects of modern livestock and poultry farming. So far 2,100 exhibitors from 50 countries have already booked stands. According to the present figures, the international contingent will boast more than 1,000 exhibitors in Hanover, a 25 per cent increase on the last show . This means that nearly half of the exhibitors come from outside Germany. With 250,000 m2 of exhibition space, EuroTier will be larger than ever, growing by more than 30 per cent since the last edition.

The Netherlands again lead the field with 176 companies. Strong exhibitor participation is also already evident from France (134), Italy (84), China (75), Denmark (69), Spain (63), United Kingdom (55), Austria (52), Belgium (51) and the USA (36).

“This booking level is well above the figures at a comparable time for the last event two years ago. EuroTier is thus growing into a new dimension”, says EuroTier Project Manager Dr Karl Schlösser. He sees in particular the exceptionally high interest shown by exhibitors from outside Germany with an increase of 25 per cent by comparison with 2010, to be a clear signal for the continuing rise in significance of EuroTier as the turntable for international markets.

“With these exhibitor registration figures EuroTier is further consolidating its position as the world’s leading exhibition for animal husbandry and management.”

Complete information programme covering all details of modern animal husbandry

EuroTier 2012 with its comprehensive information package covering all aspects of modern animal husbandry will be an indispensable source of information for farmers. All leading manufacturers and suppliers from the fields of cattle, pig and poultry will be represented in Hanover. According to the information supplied by Dr Schlösser, all sectors of the exhibition report good stand booking figures.

There will be a unique programme at the Exhibition Grounds in Hanover in November addressing the pig and cattle sectors, and the poultry sector too with the “World Poultry Show”.

By comparison with previous years more exhibitors have applied for space so far, indicating a growth in the range of exhibits on offer in all these segments, as well as in the exhibition sectors catering to cross-species requirements such as climate control, feed, animal health and veterinary medicine, and in other farm inputs. Outstanding exhibitor interest is also reported for the field of bioenergy with “BioEnergy Decentral”.

Global innovations showcase

EuroTier is the global innovations showcase for machinery, equipment and installations, and farm inputs for professional animal husbandry. For many years now companies have been gearing their innovation cycles to EuroTier in Hanover, where they launch their new products for the international markets. On the basis of strict criteria, a neutral and international commission of experts appointed by DLG will once again select “EuroTier innovations” from among the submissions by the exhibitors and award Gold and Silver Medals.

“TopTierTreff”: top cattle genetics

The key prerequisites for viable dairy farming include robust cows with a long life. Consequently the importance of cattle genetics is growing. This year EuroTier will once again provide a unique overview of top cattle genetics in Europe.

At the “TopTierTreff” live show in Hall 27, leading German and international breeding organisations and companies will be presenting their daughter animals. They use this unrivalled platform to present their prime genetics to a top-flight international expert public.

Accordingly the “TopTierTreff”: top cattle genetics show will again be one of the major attractions for cattle farmers from home and abroad. There will be presentations daily in German, and at specific times in English and Russian too. The best daughter animals will be shown.

Aquaculture at EuroTier 2012

Aquaculture is an integral part of EuroTier. Leading companies in the industry, including providers of modern fish farm technology, installations and equipment for keeping, ventilating and feeding, nets and innovative processing, improvement and water conditioning systems have already booked stands. They will be presenting their latest developments in Hanover.

DLG will again set up an Aquaculture Forum and Advisory Centre to cater to the strong demand for information in this special sector. Lectures with a practical content, discussions and comprehensive advisory services will round off the offerings of the exhibitors.

“BioEnergy Decentral” – the global meeting place for Decentralized Energy Supply

Further growth has been noted at the global meeting place for decentralized energy supply, “BioEnergy Decentral”, too. The exhibitors will be presenting a most extensive programme covering the entire bandwidth of technological developments in the field of renewable energies, as well as machinery and equipment addressing all aspects of decentralized energy supply.

Methods for using renewable energies, with a focus on bioenergy, as well as fossil energy sources, will be on show. A special hallmark of “BioEnergy Decentral” is the bringing together of the various technologies and market partners in this increasingly dynamic market. An attractive technical programme will complement the offerings presented by the exhibitors. It will comprise two technical forums at which events addressing various topics will alternate every hour.

Other highlights will be the Specials “Demand-driven Power Generation” and “Heat Utilization Concepts”. Furthermore, for the first time there will be an exhibition section addressing the subject “Smart Energy” that has been developed in cooperation with the publisher “Energie & Management”. This new section will concentrate on technologies and services for optimizing energy production and consumption and the necessary networking of trade and industry under the conditions of decentralized energy supply. Detailed information on “BioEnergy Decentral” is available on the internet at www.bioenergy-decentral.com.

bpt Congress coincides with EuroTier again

The Federal Association of Practising Veterinarians (Bundesverband Praktizierender Tierärzte - bpt) will hold its annual congress and associated specialist exhibition “Veterinarian Medicine” to overlap with EuroTier at the Exhibition Grounds in Hanover once again in 2012 too. An “International Animal Health Event” organized jointly by DLG and bpt will again serve as meeting place and contact forum for veterinarians from all over the world, and as a link between EuroTier and the bpt congress.

New: Special “Feed Gallery”

Europe’s milk, meat and egg production requires large quantities of high-grade feedstuffs. Their availability, quality and value for money exert a major influence on the cost efficiency of animal husbandry, animal health, and the product quality of products of animal origin.

Moreover the nutrient conversion of feedstuffs into animal products (“improvement”) involves considerable impacts on the environment (consumption of natural resources, emissions). For the first time visitors to EuroTier 2012 will be able to see the variety and broad base of the raw materials (feed materials) for animal husbandry for themselves in a Special “Feed Gallery”.

The most important of the 600 feed materials listed in the EU feed law and the German positive list will be presented in a “Feed Gallery” and portrayed as regards their quality and origin. In addition, selected current questions concerning feed supply, feed quality and quality assurance as well as ecological impacts, related to various feed categories, will be examined in depth.

A further segment of the Special “Feed Gallery” will demonstrate how raw materials are improved for feeding farm animals by means of hydrothermal treatment so that they can be used better, and how with the aid of data, information processing and processing technology, needs-driven and optimised feed rations or complete diets are made from the broad feed base of many different feed materials. The Feed Gallery Special will allow knowledgeable visitors to get to know new and uncommon feedstuffs, as well as to find answers to their own questions regarding the quality and suitability of certain feeds.

New: “Animal Welfare Info Centre”

With the “Animal Welfare Info Centre”, DLG is for the first time offering open discussion sessions on socially critical priority topics at EuroTier 2012. Two discussion panels will be held daily following the round table principle. The discussion sessions will be chaired professionally and feature experts representing opposite positions on the various topics. These discussion events will be supplemented by information islands on the subject of animal welfare in animal husbandry and management. Visitors to the exhibition will thus be able to acquire topical and practical knowledge on the many aspects of the focal theme “animal welfare” and to enter into dialogue with experts about adequate and viable solutions.

New: Special “Animal health in farrowing units”

A Special “Animal health in farrowing units”organized jointly by BFL (Bauförderung Landwirtschaft - an organisation devoted to promoting agricultural building construction and optimising livestock management conditions) and DLG at EuroTier 2012 shows the latest developments for modern and resource-conserving piglet production.

Various options for piggery construction, installations and facilities, floor design, climate control, and hygiene and health management will be shown by way of example in Hall 11. Alongside conventional methods, alternative forms of keeping that give sows greater freedom of movement will be shown.

The farrowing house needs to find compromises in line with animal welfare that that take into account both the needs of sows and piglets on the one hand and labour safety and cost efficiency for the farmers on the other. The BFL/DLG Special shows various options based on scientific examinations, as well as innovations from the piggery outfitting industry.

As a highlight at EuroTier, the merits of modern animal husbandry will thus demonstrate the performance capability of the industry and of the farming sector. Experts for keeping management, animal health and animal housing construction will guide visitors expertly through the Special and be available to answer questions. In addition the EuroTier Forum Pig will include daily events on various topics concerning the focal area “Animal health in farrowing units”. Future forum for all areas of professional animal husbandry

EuroTier is the most important future forum for all areas of animal husbandry. Traditionally this is where technology trends are identified and shown and all major thematic areas of modern animal husbandry and animal breeding are addressed.

Together with partners from the fields of business, academia, consultancy, trade associations and organisations, DLG is presenting an extensive technical programme again this year too to supplement the offerings of the exhibitors.

It includes international conferences and events on current trends and key developments in the industry. For example the EuroTier Pig-Event, the EuroTier Dairy-Event and the International Poultry-Event being held in the Convention Center (CC) on 12 November 2012, the eve of the exhibition opening, will be meeting places for top international farmers. These events serve as important contact and information forums. Each of them will feature top-flight speakers addressing topical issues, thus fostering forward-looking momentum.

A few other interesting events for the poultry sector will also take place on this day, for instance an international panel discussion on poultry markets in China, Russia and the EU, and a conference on permit procedures for poultry farms.

On 14 November the traditional Eastern European Conference will examine the prospects and challenges of animal production in the CIS countries.

Furthermore, at forum events dedicated to specific animal species, representatives from research and academia, consultancy, the industry and practical farming will discuss current trends and important developments in interesting focal areas.

At EuroTier 2012 too there will be another “Young Farmers Day” for young farmers and students of agriculture from Germany and other countries. In addition to the visit to EuroTier, the programme on 15 November 2012 includes job forums, a future congress for young animal farmers, and meeting places for getting to know each other and share experiences. The highlight as always is the “Young Farmers Party”.
