Dubbed the "chicken crisis", organised smugglers have been uncovered in posession of 60 tonnes of live and slaughtered poultry, which has been hidden across Iran throughout the last two weeks.

The discovery comes as a heated political debate continues over the increasing cost of chicken, which has risen in cost up to 80,000 rial (£4.20) per kilogram - an increase of three times, since last year.

There has been a huge public outcry over the illegal selling of chicken, with farmers and traders blaming the increase of international sanctions.
