OIE: More H5N1 Outbreaks in Viet Nam

VIET NAM - Six further outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus H5N1 have been reported to the OIE.

The new outbreaks were reported to the OIE by Dr Nam Hoang Van, Director General, Department of Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Viet Nam.

The six new outbreaks occured between the 28 July and the 12 August.

In total 7,702 birds were destroyed.

The outbreaks occured in the following regions:

  • Yen Nghia, Y Yen, NAM DINH
  • Yen Phu, Y Yen, NAM DINH
  • Yen Phuong, Y Yen, NAM DINH
  • Yen Tan, Y Yen, NAM DINH
  • Yen Chinh, Y Yen, NAM DINH
  • Yen Tri, Y Yen, NAM DINH

The cause of the outbreak remains unknown.
