US Exporting More Paws and Feet

US - The US is exporting more chicken paws and feet in the first seven months of this year than last year, with China and Hong Kong being the main destinations.

However, while exports of these products rose by six per cent compared to a year ago and they are 27 per cent higher than in 2010, total US exports of paws and feet have been declining since 2008.

According to the USDA insternational poultry and egg export figures, in the second quarter of 2012, US paws and feet exports reached 83,939 MT, 17 per cent lower than the first quarter of 2012 (101,544 MT) and four per cent lower than the second quarter of 2011 (87,283 MT). Total exports in the second quarter of 2012 are eight per cent higher than 2010 (77,864 MT), but 35 per cent lower than 2009 (129,399 MT), and 34 per cent lower than 2008 (127,308 MT).
