Danisco Debuts under DuPont Branding at WPC 201226 September 2012
BRAZIL - Historic Salvador, located on the northeast coast of Brazil in the state of Bahia, played host to the XXIV World’s Poultry Congress (WPC), an event at which Danisco Animal Nutrition made its debut as part of DuPont.
Organized by FACTA and the Brazilian branch of the World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA-BR), the WPC is considered to be the most important global event focused on the dissemination of poultry science and technology.
This year’s event attracted more than 9,000 visitors and 3,000 scientific professionals from all corners of the world; including Brazil, US, China, South Africa, and various countries in Europe. As silver sponsors of WPC, Danisco Animal Nutrition, part of DuPont Industrial Biosciences, participated with a booth for the first time under our new DuPont branding.
The core messages being promoted were:
- providing sustainable healthy nutrition solutions for the poultry industry
- minimizing feed costs
- maximizing profitability
- improving bird uniformity
- reducing the impact of the animal protein production industry on the environment.
Resonating with these core messages, the DuPont Global Collaboratory corporate video was used to inform attendees about the commitment DuPont has towards solving major challenges facing our world today, such as providing food security for a growing population.
Danisco Animal Nutrition scientists presented four posters which summarized some of the latest research on existing and new products. Dr Elijah Kiarie demonstrated the positive effect that supplementing a corn-based or wheat-based diet with xylanase enzymes has on broiler growth performance.
Dr Ahmed Amerah presented data reinforcing the benefits of phytase supplementation for improving phosphorous, amino acid and calcium release and digestibility. Dr Shukun Yu shared two posters– one comparing the effect of four different proteases on feather degradation, thereby increasing digestibility which specifically addresses a critical need in the poultry industry.
The second poster focused on our new phytase enzyme, Axtra® PHY and its ability to rapidly hydrolyze protein-phytic acid complexes at low pH. The improved bioefficacy of Axtra® PHY results in an improved breakdown of phytate in feed substrate, leading to a reduction in the phytate anti-nutrient effect throughout the digestive tract. The benefit of this for the producer is improved nutrient release, greater feed digestibility, lower feed costs and better bird performance.ThePoultrySite News Desk
