Kazakhstan Govt Support 'Not Enough'

03 October 2012

KAZAKHSTAN - The government of Kazakhstan has provided poultry producers with thousands of tonnes of grain at a fixed price. Increased productivity and quality of poultry will also be eligible for direct subsidies.

Poultry production is expected to increase throughout Kazakhstan with this support. Poultry production has increased by 1.3 per cent this year so far.

Despite the support, some experts argue that the government needs to offer more to producers if they have any hope of competing with foreign producers.

Kazakhstan is also at risk of increased poultry diseases due to uncontrolled borders, allowing importation of eggs at dumping prices.
