Philippine Gov't Promotes Poultry Benefits

PHILIPPINES - The Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) through its Nutrition Communication Network (Nutricomnet) is promoting meats and poultry to be included in meals.

During the Nutricomnet meeting and media forum at the Philippine Information Agency, resource speakers Ma Susana O. Encarnacion and Salvador R. Serrano shared with the participants the advantages of eating meats and poultry.

During the forum, it was affirmed that both meats and poultry are good sources of quality proteins, vitamins, minerals, enzymes and essential amino acids.

DOST said meats and poultry are rich in vitamins and minerals, and among these are thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, calcium, phosphorus and iron.
