Bird Flu Outbreak Caused by H7N7 Virus

AUSTRALIA - The virus responsible for the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) has been identified as H7N7. There have been no new outbreaks.

In Follow Up report No. 1 dated 22 November to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), it was reported that the H7N7 virus subtype was responsible for the HPAI outbreak in a free-range egg flock in New South Wales earlier this month.

The report adds that surveillance is continuing and no further signs of disease have been reported.
