Young Poultry Veterinarian of the Year: Call for Entries05 December 2012
GLOBAL - Nominations are now open for the World Veterinary Poultry Association (WVPA) Young Veterinarian of the Year 2013 Award.
The award, now in its second year, is supported by Pfizer Animal Health Global Poultry in conjunction with the WVPA.
It is open to qualified veterinarians who are under the age of 35 on 1 January 2013, with the winner receiving US$ 5,000 towards attending international scientific or continued professional education meetings of their choice.
The call for nominations follows the recent presentation of the inaugural Young Poultry Veterinarian of the Year Award to Dr Kelli Holloway Jones, at the meeting of the American Association of Avian Pathologists (AAAP) in San Diego.
Dr Trevor Bagust, President of the WVPA, says the standard of nominations in the award’s first year was exceptional.
“We’re proud to be working with Pfizer Global Poultry to continue this award in recognition of the outstanding contribution that young veterinarians make to our industry.
“WVPA is looking for someone who not only displays a commitment to bird health and customer care, but someone who goes above and beyond and demonstrates a real passion for the poultry industry.”
Pfizer Global Poultry Group Director, Global Marketing, Hector Badillo, says young poultry veterinarians make an outstanding contribution to the industry around the world, and Pfizer is proud to play a role in recognising that involvement.
“Young vets are the future of our industry and this award celebrates the best young talent. As part of our role in the industry we meet many young vets who demonstrate excellence not only in their day-to-day business but who go beyond the call of duty. We encourage such candidates to apply – or for colleagues aware of their contribution to nominate them for this award.”
The deadline for nominations is February 28, 2013. Entries can only be made via the WVPA Young Veterinarian of the Year 2013 website.
Nominees/applicants are asked to write, in 500 words or less, why they believe they should win the award, demonstrating their role and achievements in the industry. The award will be judged by a panel of global poultry experts, and the winner will be determined by May 1 2013. The award will be presented at the XVIII Congress of the World Veterinary Poultry Association, Nantes, August 2013.
