MEXICO - The chief director of SENASICA, Enrique Sanchez Cruz, has been instructed to reinforce diagnostic activities and narrow the movement controls of poultry and products in affected bird flu-affected areas.

Vaccinations have been enhanced in order to prevent re-occurrence of the disease.

Upon completion of laboratory studies to determine the sequencing of the virus affecting Bachoco company's poultry farms in Guanajuato, Mexico's National Health Service for Food Safety and Quality (SENASICA) confirmed the presence of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus H7N3, similar to the one found in the states of Jalisco and Aguascalientes.

SAGARPA also reported that five more farms were affected, wherein broilers and commercial egg layers were found showing signs of susceptibility.
