The Oxfordshire AD Seminar and Site Tour is one of a series of Site Tours that Nextgen Media arranges to help showcase both working and emerging renewable energy generation technology.

Farmers have the opportunity to learn about financing, planning, building and commissioning an AD biogas facility.

Owners will be sharing the lessons learned from their AD plants throughout the tours.

Site tours

Site 1 is a merchant AD plant treating commercial and municipal food waste. It incorporates waste reception, depackaging, pasteurisation and digestion technology to generate a power output of 2.1 MWe. The site achieves in excess of 99 per cent up time.

The ‘whole digestate’ product is used on local farmland and achieves PAS110 specification. One of the key successes to digestate marketing is the low odour of the product.

Site 2 is a self build 350KW AD Plant on a farm that uses existing farm based products; pig slurry, chicken manures and a mixture of grass and maize silage.

This is a unique opportunity to learn the successes and failures of these owner operators and how they sourced technology and used UK design to build and run their plant without a turnkey company to support them. The two sites are visited after a morning at the hotel.
