According to Bernama.com, State FOA director Shamsuddin Mat Rani said implementation of the project had been handed to an entrepreneur who was once mentored by the government agency.

"This project is the first of its kind under the state FOA," he told Bernama here Saturday.

Mr Rani said the project is being implemented on a 2.02 hectare (five acre) site owned by the entrepreneur concerned and began earlier this year.

He said the FOA had built two chicken coops which are able to host 20,000 chickens each at any one time.

"This is a commercial project and the largest of its kind to be implemented by the FOA in the state," he added.

He said to date, the project had succeeded in raising 80,000 chickens over two rounds and is expected to enter the third and fourth in the near future.

"We expect this year to rear 160,000 chickens, barring any unforeseen circumstances," Mr Rani highlighted.

He said to strengthen further the project, the entrepreneur involved, had personally invested RM300,000 in it.
