Poultry Feed Prices Likely to Gain on Surging Inputs

INDIA - Following continuous uptrend in the prices of key ingredients in the last few days, poultry feed products are set to turn dearer over the next couple of days.

Commodity expert Aditya Mishra told The Hindu Business Line that poultry feed prices stayed unchanged this week despite an uptrend in the prices of a few of its key ingredients.

Though a few feed millers have increased prices, a majority of the players are yet to do so, he said. According to market experts, prices may increase by Rs 800-1,000 for a tonne. In the physical market, soyameal moved further up by Rs 1,700 to Rs 35,600 a tonne. Bajra improved further by Rs 30 to Rs 1,410 a quintal, while di-calcium phosphate eased by 10 paise to Rs 33.70 a kg.

MBM dropped 30 paise to at 33 a kg, while maize moved up by Rs 50 to Rs 1,500-1,560 a quintal.

Mustard de-oiled cake remained unchanged and sold at Rs 14,200 a tonne, DRB dropped Rs 200 to Rs 11,000 a tonne while rice bran oil was at 54 a kg.

Feed prices have been ruling unchanged since the beginning of this month but following rising cost of production feed prices may turn dearer within a couple of days, said Mishra. Broiler concentrate feed quoted at Rs 1,970 for a 50-kg bag while broiler starter mash sold at Rs 1,480 for a 50-kg bag. Pre-lay mash sold at Rs 1,015 for a 50-kg bag, while layer grower mash quoted at Rs 955 for a 50-kg bag.

“Layer concentrate 25 per cent” sold at Rs 1,465 for a 50-kg bag while layer concentrate 35 per cent was at Rs 1,150 for a 50-kg bag.

Broiler finisher sold at Rs 1,460 for a 50-kg bag.

A mixed trend was witnessed in the poultry products market.

Broiler improved Rs 4 and quoted at Rs 90-94 a kg, egg eased by 12 paisa and sold at Rs 3, while chick went for Rs 23, staying unchanged.
