Yum! Brand Inc's same-store sales for China have fallen for the sixth consecutive month since March with an estimated 10 per cent year-on-year drop in August, according to an official source.

The August decline included an estimated 12 per cent fall at KFC and five per cent growth at Pizza Hut Casual Dinning, according to the company statement.

"KFC sales were negatively impacted by the residual effects of adverse publicity surrounding the December poultry supply incident," Yum! Brand said.

The Western fast-food chain's same-store sales during the third quarter of 2013 declined an estimated 11 percent for China, including an estimated drop of 14 percent at KFC.

The company said it expects to report positive same-store sales in the China division for the fourth quarter of 2013.
