Chicken Meat Revenues up Despite Volume Drop19 September 2013
BRAZIL – Revenues from chicken meat exports have improved, despite a two per cent drop in shipments.
Figures from the Brazilian Poultry Association show an 8.62 per cent increase in value to $5.413 billion reals for the first eight months of 2013.
For August, exports were 5.1 per cent higher, reaching 333,600 tons. Last month earned 7.5 per cent more than August 2012 making 640 million reals.
Association figures illustrate that chicken cuts were down but sales of whole chicken have been around five per cent higher. This is the only segment of the chicken meat market boasting higher figures than 2012.
