27 September 2013

BRAZIL & MEXICO - The governments of Mexico and Brazil are seeking to strengthen trade relations between the two countries.

The agenda was discussed at a meeting between the Brazilian Minister of Agriculture, Antonio Andrade, and Mexican Secretary of Agriculture, Ricardo Aguilar Cartillo.

As an initiative to further strengthen agricultural ties between the two countries, Mexico has opened up three poultry slaughterhouses in the country.

Mr Andrade has requested the Mexican secretary to take note of the list of all 43 Brazilian establishments already approved for chicken exports to Canada, which is a major trading partner of Mexico.

Mr Andrade spoke of the high quality and productivity of the Brazilian poultry plants and said that the initiative will strengthen Brazil's relationship with Mexico.

According to him, Mr Cartillo is also open to the idea of expanding the bilateral agenda, which will help reinforce the actions being taken by Brazil in terms of being sanitary and hygiene.
