Poultry Processing Plant Launched in Kazakh City

KAZAKHSTAN - A new poultry meat processing plant Aitas-MP was launched in the Kazakh city of Ust-Kamengorsk, the Kazakh Agriculture Ministry reported on Monday (14 October).

According to Kazinform, Agriculture Minister Asylzhan Mamytbekov attended the plant opening ceremony.

Some 1.779 billion tenge (153.70 tenge = $1) were invested in the plant construction, including 608.8 million tenge own funds, and 1,170.2 million tenge borrowed from commercial banks.

The plant's design capacity hit 12,000 tons per year. The plant will produce over 150 kinds of foodstuff including red meat and poultry meat products, sausages, deli and convenience food.

Kazakh enterprises processed 264,000 tones of meat in 2012 (24 per cent increase compared to 2011). Kazakhstan's meat and meat products exports amounted to 3.7 million tons in 2012, Kazinform reports, citing Trend.az.

According to Agriculture Ministry, 29.7 billion tenge will be allocated to meat processing development in Kazakhstan by 2020.
