"Egg prices had been increased after the commodity’s demand went up as the temperature level dropped slightly in the city of Karachi in the last 24 hours," he added.

Commenting upon the situation, a trader said that many of the people increase their use of eggs in winters as it keeps them warm and increases their level of resistance against cold, according to Pakistan's The News.

"Egg is also considered a healthy meal and is eaten by many people for breakfast," he said.

Furthermore, many people like to have soup with eggs. "Soup sellers are one of the biggest buyers of eggs, besides confectionary (biscuit and bakery item) manufacturers," he said.
