Aimed at poultry professionals involved in the broiler industry, the module was designed to provide fresh insight for farmers on key technical issues such as ventilation, nutrition, lighting, incubation and farm management. It also followed on the work in the first event which focused more on Parent Stock (PS) .

The Broiler School included many practical workshops while four expert speakers provided presentations covering many of the technical issues facing modern poultry farmers in the region.

Anna Matveeva, Georgi Nalbantov, Leonardo Linares and Kruno Bosilj provided the Aviagen perspective on these matters while external specialist Bernard Green was invited to provide a special talk on ventilation.

Four days of lectures were followed by a practical day at a customer broiler farm in Lipetsk. Attendees spent the day learning how farm owner Marco van den Broek has secured excellent production efficiency, achieving an EPEF of over 350 in Russian conditions.

Alexey Nekrutov, production director at Yaroslavsky Broiler, said: "It was very useful to have been able to attend the Aviagen Broiler School. We received much-needed practical information. The school was very interesting and as always Aviagen prepared the latest insights for the event."

The week also included a special ceremony during which two farms were awarded prizes for their Ross® parent stock production results. The best PS awards went to Permskaya farm (136.2 chicks/HH) and Yaroslavsky Broilers (139.4 chicks/HH), which received the Best Flock 2013 title.

Alexander Fatkin, production director at Udmurtskaya farm, commented: "The Aviagen Broiler School was of a very high standard. Everything was very interesting for me as a farm production director and I look forward to future events from the Aviagen team."

Eduard Taktarov, sales director for Aviagen in Russia, said: "Aviagen is committed to leading industry standards in technical training and expert advice. We enjoy discussing the latest farm management challenges with our customers and I am delighted that the attendees to this most recent event left with a sense of achievement.
