Russian Authorities Block Import of Dutch Poultry Meat

RUSSIA - The Russian authorities have refused entry into the country about 40 tonnes of chicken and minced poultry meat because it does not comply with the veterinary requirements.

The shipment was seized at the border in the Kaliningrad region by Rosselkhoznador inspectors.

The inspectors found discrepancies on the documentation indicating the slaughterhouse the poultry products had come from.

In 2009, Russian authorities had refused entry to the country other products from the slaughterhouse because of contamination with among other things, Salmonella, Listeria and tetracycline.

In March 2013, the authorities had placed temporary restrictions on the import of beef, pork and poultry products from the Netherlands.
