The American FDA announced at the end of 2013 a selective ban of growth promoting antibiotics used in USA, without approval of a veterinarian for a medical purpose. The transition will be effective at the end of a transition period of three years, with a goal to help maintaining the efficiency of important antibiotics treating human illnesses for the future.
