The company, based on Szczecin, aims to increase its poultry slaughter capacity by 50 per cent over the next two years, according to Gazeta. It also plans to expand the plant at Goleniów.

At a press conference, the company's CEO, Klaus Roppel, summed up the past year and outlined the latest investment plans.

Total investment in the plant in the Dabie neighbourhood of Szczecin will be PLN40 million (around US$13 million) over two years.

A new line for slicing and packaging of meats in Goleniów will cost PLN12 million (US$4 million)

At the Dabie slaughterhouse, productivity is planned to increase from 105,000 to 160,000 chicken portions per day.

Mr Roppel expects to take on more workers at the plants. The number will vary as some of the work is seasonal, with more people required in the summer to prepare products for barbecues and grilling.

The company currently employs 680 workers.

Drobimex achieved sales of PLV350 million during the 2012-2013 financial year, an increase of 3.6 per cent over the previous year.

It sold 40,000 tons of meat in total, including more than 1,000 tons of meat products. Almost 30 per cent of output is exported - to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania and Azerbaijan. Chicken from Dabie is sold to KFC, not only in Poland but also the UK, France, Denmark and Malta.

Gazeta reports Mr Roppel adding that one of the company's greatest recent successes is receiving certification from the Polish association for people with coeliac disease for 11 of its gluten-free products.
