Dominican Republic Resumes Chicken and Egg Exports to Haiti
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC - Agriculture Minister Luis Ramon Rodriguez has announced that egg and chicken exports to the Republic of Haiti will be resumed, after the authorities of both countries agreed the implementation of a health protocol to regulate bilateral trade .Mr Rodriguez reported that in addition to the approval of the protocol, Dominican poultry producers Moca and La Vega, together with Haitian investors are preparing to install a chicken farm in Haiti, ensuring that it will strengthen the industry.
"We received a communication from the Haitian Minister of Agriculture, Jacques Thomas, informing us that there are no problems exporting eggs and chickens, provided they are free of avian influenza," he said.
The Agriculture Minister said the country does not have Avian Influenza, and reported that produce comes from certified farms.
He said the certification program is carried out together with the producers and it allows the Dominican Republic is able to export chicken and egg all over the world.
