Law to Control Spawning of Poultry Farms Soon, Says Minister

INDIA - Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs T.B. Jayachandra said the Karnataka State government will bring in a legislation to control the mushrooming of poultry farms in the State.

According to The Hindu, after laying the foundation stone for the construction of houses under the Rajiv Awas Yojana at Dibbur on Friday, Mr Jayachandra said sprouting of poultry farms have resulted in pollution, causing health problems to the people.

He said poultry farms in Davangere and Halkur village in Sira taluk are causing harm to the environment.

A criminal case has been registered against the owner of a poultry farm in Halkur, where people have been staging protests for the last ten days.

He said even though the Assistant Commissioner had ordered closure of the poultry in Halkur, the owner got a stay order from the court against the closure.
