Night at the Vet College Sets Chickens as Main Theme

27 March 2014

UK - The Royal Veterinary College is opening its doors once more for members of the public to come behind the scenes at the College for a free evening of fun activities and hands on science. This year the theme is all about chickens!

Chickens are a vital part of our economy and our food chain, so how do we keep them healthy and happy and how are they evolving?

Throughout the course of the evening visitors will have the opportunity to:

  • Explore the links between dinosaurs and modern chickens with Professor John Hutchinson;
  • See how scientists are investigating chicken welfare and cognition;
  • See a demonstration of bird anatomy by the College's anatomist Andrew Crook;
  • Meet chickens at the RVC farm or take a tour of the studio of the RVC's artist in residence;
  • Take part in a treasure hunt and art activities; and
  • Compete in a pub quiz to end the evening.

Night at the Vet College will be held on Friday, 25 April, from 5pm - 10pm at the RVC's Camden Campus on Royal College Street. The event is completely free but spaces are limited so registration via the website is essential.
