Conducted annually by the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV), the Royal Melbourne Poultry Show showcases the finest birds and provides poultry fanciers with an opportunity to receive feedback from experts and connect with some of Australia’s most respected breeders.

Alan and Jude Lawrence, winners of last year’s Supreme Champion in Show, said winning the prestigious award was considered the pinnacle of the poultry world.

"Winning the G.J. Sheppard Award at the Royal Melbourne Poultry Show was truly an honour and for us makes 40 years of breeding and preparing birds all worthwhile."

"With strong competition and top quality judges, the Royal Melbourne Poultry Show is an event not to be missed for experienced breeders and new comers alike," Mrs Lawrence said.

RASV CEO Mark O’Sullivan said, "Exhibitors responded well to the new stand-alone format in 2013, experiencing a 68 per cent increase in entries and the RASV anticipates the second annual Royal Melbourne Poultry Show will be another success".

Eleven nationally recognised poultry experts will judge this year’s competition, which boasts the full range of Australian poultry standard classes.

An exhibitor cocktail function will be held on the Saturday to announce the winners of the G.J Sheppard Award for Supreme Champion in Show and all prestigious section awards.

For the first time, exhibitors can enter online and receive a 10 per cent discount on entry fees. Entries close on Friday, 6 June.

The 2014 Royal Melbourne Poultry Show provides exhibitors with an enhanced experience, including better access, a dedicated event space and valuable networking opportunities.

The Show is open to the public on Saturday, 12 July from 10:00am to 5:00pm and on Sunday, 13 July from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Entry is free.
