Kazakhstan Bans Russian, Belarusian Poultry over Salmonella

KAZAKHSTAN - Kazakhstan has temporary blocked imports of Russian and Belarusian poultry on health and safety grounds.

"The ban took effect from 28 March and covered several Russian and Belarusian poultry exporters," Zhandarbek Bekshin, the chairman of the Agency for consumer rights protection and chief medical officer of Kazakhstan, told a Kazinform correspondent.

"An excess of water and salmonella, the dangerous bacteria, was found in shipments of Russian and Belarusian poultry to Kazakhstan," he elaborated.
