International Poultry Council Schedules Special Meeting for Strategic Planning09 May 2014
hyThe Executive Committee of the International Poultry Council (IPC) has recommended scheduling a special meeting for strategic planning in lieu of a second conference in 2014, and there was no objection by members present for the business session. The announcement was made by IPC Secretary General George Watts.
According to Mr Watts, a facilitator will be engaged for advanced preparation and to conduct the meeting, and participants will include the Executive Committee and a representative group of Country and Associate members.
President Jim Sumner stated that the total number of participants will be based on a recommendation of the facilitator. He suggested if any member has a strong desire to participate and contribute to the process to contact George Watts.
It was suggested that the two-day meeting be held on 12-13 September immediately following the International Egg Commission Global Leadership Conference in Bangkok since some Executive Committee members will be attending the IEC meeting.
In order to obtain maximum input and participation from the membership, all IPC member representatives will be surveyed by the facilitator in advance of the planning session.
An effort will be made to determine the future direction for IPC, what additional information and services would be useful to the membership, whether part-time staffing is sufficient to serve future needs of the membership, whether IPC is sufficiently involved in international organizations, etc.
President Sumner announced that the next IPC conference will be held in Rome in April 2015. Lara Sanfrancesco of UNAITALIA was asked to work with the FAO and Secretary General to assist in finding suitable meeting dates and hotel accommodations.
