It is common knowledge that long egg storage times lead to losses in hatchability and chick quality. Recently, more and more hatcheries are looking to solve this by applying heat treatment during storage, with success1.

Petersime has developed a dedicated incubator for heat treatment during storage.

Roger Banwell, Hatchery Development Manager at Petersime, explained: “Applying heat treatment during egg storage is a very promising method, but it imposes specific demands to the incubator in terms of heating and cooling. Precisely controlling variables like egg shell temperature is crucial in this process.”

You can find out all about this innovation during VIV Europe at the company's booth, B010 in Hall 7.

Moreover, the method of heat treatment during storage will be further explained during the Incubation 2014 conference on 19 May.
