Running from 26 May to 1 June 2014, the National BBQ Association has estimated that over seven million barbeques will be held nationally over the course of the week.

In a recent survey, the National BBQ Association found that 62 per cent of barbecuers prefer chicken, whilst sausages are second on 48 per cent and third are burgers on 43 per cent.

Andrew Large, BPC’s Chief Executive, said: “We welcome the findings of the National BBQ Association, as this demonstrates that poultry continues to be a cost-effective and high quality choice of meat. We urge all UK consumers to get involved in this great initiative in a safe and enjoyable way to enjoy not just chicken, but all types of poultry meat.

“Whether in the kitchen, or outside on a sunny day, good kitchen hygiene remains important. Wash your hands after handling raw meat. Also clean knives and chopping boards before cutting any other food. There is no need to wash your chicken as it has already been cleaned before you buy it.”
