The Byron Bay factory announcement affects 86 employees, including 21 casuals in the northern New South Wales.

The Land reports that orders will now be processed at the Murarrie facility in Brisbane after closure in October.

Inghams has said all workers wanting to stay employed can do so by transferring.

Reasons for closure were that the plant was unable to produce the full range of poultry products sought by the contemporary market.
