Another Algerian Poultry Flock Reports Newcastle Disease10 June 2014
ALGERIA - A new outbreak of Newcastle disease has been reported in a broiler flock in the north-east of the country.
The veterinary authority sent Follow Up Report No.1 dated 9 June to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
It describes a new outbreak of Newcastle disease in a broiler flock at Eainry Massine in the Constantine region of north-east Algeria. A total of 2,500 birds died at the farm on 5 June.
Clinical signs observed in the outbreaks were diarrhoea, ocular-nasal discharge, neurological signs, respiratory signs and high mortality.
Control measures on the affected farm are: quarantine on the infected farms, destruction and burial of carcasses, disinfection and depopulation of the infected farms and booster vaccination of the non-infected farms.
