Supply of chicken meat throughout the fasting month of Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri in Pahang has been assured to be adequate with the price remaining at RM8.50 per kilogram and below, reports Bernama.

Chairman of the State Committee on Cooperatives, Entrepreneurship and Consumerism,Datuk Shahiruddin Ab Moin, said between 90 and 120 tonnes of chicken were needed in the state daily and the requirement increased 100 per cent during the month of Ramadan and the Hari Raya festive season.

"The government has made early preparation to meet the requirement for the fasting month and the Hari Raya, thus consumers need not worry about the supply of chicken during these periods," he said.

Mr Shahiruddin said there were 384 registered poultry farms in the state with 25 wholesalers supplying more than 90 tonnes of chicken meat daily throughout the state.

At the same time, he also reminded traders not to raise the prices of essential goods arbitrarily as legal action could be taken against them.
