US Venture Pushes Jamaica Broiler Sales Higher09 July 2014
JAMAICA – Jamaica Broilers Group has broken the J$30-billion barrier for the first time following an expansion period since 2012.
Growth for the business year ending May 2014 was marked by strong US division performance, which although embryonic, helped overall sales climb to $4.33 billion, reports the Jamaica Gleaner.
US turnover doubled to J$6.85 billion, while operating profit increased sixteen-fold to J$332 million.
Overall profits contracted slightly, from J$1.03 billion to J$919 billion, blamed on losses in the ethanol division. Other factors were a growing debt-servicing bill and increased operating expenses.
