Record Poultry Meat Production in Russia

RUSSIA - Double-digit increases in the production of poultry meat, beef and pork have been reached in April over January 2014.

Production of meat, poultry, and associated by-products increased from the beginning of this year through April, inclusive. This was included in official data of the Unified Interdepartmental Statistical Information System (UniSIS), according to Russian-based feed and meat company, Cherkizovo.

Output of poultry meat and related by-products, in particular, increased by 11 per cent to a record 337,300 tonnes from the beginning of 2014. The lowest value of this indicator was 265,400 tonnes in January 2012.

Beef and related by-products output rose by 17 per cent to 18,600 tonnes from the beginning of the year to April. Beef production was lowest in January 2012, at 15,100 tonnes, and reached a maximum of 25,200 tonnes in October 2013.

Output of pork and related by-products increased by 18 per cent to 134,400 tonnes in April compared to January. The lowest volume of pork production was recorded in January 2012, at 71,400 tonnes, while the highest level of 136,500 tonnes was reached in December 2013.
