Outstanding Scholar and Teacher Honoured by Novus29 July 2014
US - Each year, Novus recognises one educator and one student scholar for their outstanding scientific contributions to the poultry industry, presenting the honorees with awards during the annual Poultry Science Association (PSA) scientific conference.
Novus is proud to announce that Christine Alvarado, PhD, Poultry Processing and Products, and Robert F. Wideman, Jr., University of Arkansas, Center of Excellence for Poultry Science, are this year’s award recipients.
Novus presented the winners with their individual awards during the 2014 PSA event, held from 14 to 17 July in Corpus Christi, Texas.
“The future of the poultry industry is dependent upon the scientific endeavors of trail-blazers like Christine and Robert,” noted Dr Mercedes Vazquez-Anon, Senior Director, Animal Nutrition, Research and Facilities for Novus.
“We are counting on these individuals to spearhead the next generation of scientific discovery because science is what drives the continued growth, development, and ultimately the success, of the poultry industry.”
Dr Kendre Stringfellow of Novus presented Novus’s Teaching Award, a $2,000 prize, and a custom-made, engraved glass award to Dr Alvarado in honour of her accomplishments.
