Intensified Bird Flu Surveillance Carried Out in Taiwan

TAIWAN - The Taiwanese veterinary authorities, in conjunction with the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), have carried out intensified surveillance in accordance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code for three months after the H5N2 outbreak and no further virus has been detected.

According to follow-up report no. 1 sent to the OIE on Friday, 1 August, clinical and epidemiological investigations of surrounding farms within a three-km radius of the index breeder farm in Yunlin County have finished and no notifiable avian influenza case was observed or detected.

According to this information, the H5N2 low pathogenic avian influenza outbreak was resolved on 29 July 2014.
