BRF at Top of Sustainability Rankings

BRAZIL - Brazilian food processing giant BRF has been placed among the five best performers in the management of sustainability with a focus on low carbon technologies.

The company, which is the seventh largest food company in the world has been lauded for its low carbon technology and strategy by CDP - international non-profit organization that works with investors and companies to motivate them to reduce the impacts of companies on the environment.

BRF is the only representative of the food sector which contains the list of the 10 Leading Companies in Transparency unveiled by CDP in its rankings.

"BRF has on principle adopted initiatives focused on operational efficiency, operating through more renewable energy sources, which also promotes the reduction of emissions of greenhouse gases," said Luciana Ueda, manager of sustainability of BRF.

"Since 2008, when the first discussions on the subject were initiated in Brazil, the company has followed the main protocols and best practices.

“Our presence in important rankings such as the CDP shows that we are on track."
