GERMANY - With pride, Cobb Germany hatched its 100 millionth female Cobb500 parent stock chick, which was delivered to Polish broiler breeder farmer, Leszek Wasikowski.

The company’s hatchery at Wiesenena, near Leipzig, was opened in 1998 and has been expanded to a capacity of 10 million chicks per year to supply the 21 countries where it is the parent stock distributor.

Cobb Germany sales manager, Aldona van Krevel, and technical manager, Ireneusz Rosada, were at the family farm at Nadziejewo, Czarne, to congratulate Mr Wasikowki at this historic moment, receiving the 100 millionth chick in a delivery of 49,176 birds.

Aldona van Krevel commented: “To the last moment, we’re quite sure where our 100 millionth female chick would find a home and we are extremely happy that it is turned out to be in a delivery to Leszek Wasikowski.

“A better home it couldn't find! The family company has been in the poultry business for 47 years! Leszek is the ‘next generation’ following his father Jan who is still growing breeders and has expanded the business a lot in last few years with new chicken houses for rearing and production, a feed mill and recently plans to double hatchery capacity.

“We’re certainly proud to have the Wasikowski family among our customers and friends!” she added.

At the EuroTier 2014 Show in Hanover, Cobb Germany director James Truscott will be presenting an award to Mr Wasikowski at the company’s stand no. B60 in Hall 11 on Wednesday 12 November at 18.30 to highlight the spectacular growth of the Cobb Germany's hatchery and celebrate the 100 millionth Cobb500 chick among colleagues new and old from the poultry industry and hatchery staff headed by manager, Uwe Weidenmüller.
