Russia Restricts German Poultry Products over Bird Flu

RUSSIA - Russia has placed restrictions on imports of poultry meat and poultry products from Germany because of the recent outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza.

The restrictions mean that all poultry meat products will have to be heat-treated to at least 70°C and there are restrictions on the import of feed and feed additives for poultry and second hand poultry housing and handling equipment including slaughtering and butchering equipment.

Live poultry, hatchery eggs, down and feathers from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Brandenburg in Germany are also subject to restrictions and appropriate veterinary certificate will have to be applied for and accompany the consignment.
