Bird Flu Hits Mixed Hobby Flock in British Columbia

CANADA - The first outbreak of H5N2 highly pathogenic avian influenza has has been confirmed in a non-commercial poultry flock; it is near to previously reported outbreaks.

The first non-commercial infected premises (IPNC) identified as part of the ongoing avian influenza situation in British Columbia is in Aldergrove, a community in the township of Langley in British Columbia.

A total of 85 birds were affected, a mixed flock of ducks, chickens, geese and turkeys.
