Ducks Culled Following Bird Flu Outbreak in East Hungary
HUNGARY - More than 100,000 ducks have been slaughtered in eastern Hungary following an outbreak of H5N8 highly pathogenic avian influenza there.

By: The total stock of ducks, consisting of more than 100,000 animals, was slaughtered at a poultry farm in Füzesgyarmat (eastern Hungary) where a type of avian flu was found last week, reports Budapest Business Journal.
With this, the prevention operation is over, Hungary's chief veterinarian and deputy state secretary at the Agricultural Ministry, Lajos Bognár, has told Hungarian news agency, MTI.
There is no evidence that the avian flu type found in Füzesgyarmat, H5N8, could infect humans, and no other cases of avian flu infection were found in the region, he added.The poultry farm will be indemnified by the State Treasury after the necessary legal procedures, Mr Bognár said.
A 30-day ban on poultry shipments from the region remains in force.
