Phytogenic Feed Additives for Livestock Production on the Rise

Increasing meat consumption, consumer demands and clamour for high quality and safe food, raising concerns on animal health and environmental protection, the antibiotic ban in US for in-feed use from 31 December 2016, global tendencies to reduce antibiotic growth promoters – because of these factors, phytogenics are seen as one of the top solutions in animal nutrition.

More than a quarter of a century ago, Delacon began to invest in research and development of phytogenic feed additives. Today, Delacon annually invests 10 per cent of its revenue in R&D.

At VIV Asia 2015, the pioneer and global leader in phytogenic feed additives, Delacon, makes its natural products come alive. The VIV is the first trade show in Asia, where the company presents its extended product range for ruminants (Actifor®), the new product for poultry (Biostrong® Forte) as well as the new corporate design.

While in Europe meat consumption stagnates, the demand significantly increases in other regions. The booming Asian countries are currently establishing meat as an integral part of the daily diet. The FAO estimates that, in order to meet the increasing global demand for animal protein source food, the production output in 2050 must be twice as large as before.

Delacon's CEO Markus Dedl said: "The better feed conversion is a key solution."

By ensuring optimal nutrient digestibility, Delacon's phytogenic feed additives are designed to enhance the performance, reduce feed costs and, on the other hand, to strengthen the immune system of animals and thus minimise the use of antibiotics.

Extended product family Actifor for ruminants

Due to the strong demand in the ruminant sector, Delacon reacts with two new products. After Actifor Pro, now Actifor Boost and Actifor Power have entered the Asian market and thus complete the ruminant product range. Depending on the country, the three products are in different stages of approval. The entire Actifor product line solely contains natural substances like essential oils, herbs and spices, and is specifically designed to improve feed efficiency, performance and health of ruminants.

New product for profitable poultry production under challenge conditions

A sound replacement of antibiotic growth promoters requires specially designed dedicated products for antibiotic-free applications. Delacon developed a new product, Biostrong Forte, which combines beneficial Biostrong 510 effects with short and medium chain fatty acids. Biostrong Forte helps to fight the common intestinal challenges found in antibiotic-free production.

Delacon shines in new design

Not only the product range but also the design of Delacon shines in new splendor. At VIV Asia, for the first time, Delacon presents its booth in the new design at a trade show in Asia.
