Four New Outbreaks of Newcastle Disease in Israel

ISRAEL - Newcastle disease has affected four poultry flocks in the Hazafon region.

According to Follow-up Report No.14 dated 2 March from the veterinary authority to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), there have been four new outbreaks of Newcastle disease, all in the northern region of Hazafon, starting between 15 and 21 February.

The three most recent outbreaks are in the same area, Acco. In total, 24,035 birds were affected of which, 572 showed symptoms and 399 died; 23,636 have been destroyed.

One of the flocks affected is described as "backyard" but the other three were commercial farms - two with laying hens and one with broilers.
